Nature Quests and Sacred Passages
Imagine a living a life directed by the soul. Imagine knowing in your bones that you belong on this planet and have a unique role to play in contribution to the rest of life. Imagine feeling the love permeating the universe in the caress of the wind on your cheek, in the blessing of having water to drink, in the mutual recognition of beingness between you and an old tree. Nature Quests and Sacred Passages initiate you into this sacred relationship with life.
Many of us intellectually understand that everything is interconnected, but do we actually feel it? It is the birthright of every human being to come into profound appreciation of our inherent, fundamental interconnectedness and what that means for our role in this life. The Quest process initiates us into this way of being, rapidly removing layers that keep us in a perception of separateness and providing space for guidance and insight to be received.
The Quest process involves spending some days and nights in one sacred circle, fasting from all things familiar including food. You will go out with practices to cultivate presence, receptivity, universal energy and an open heart along with a beautiful directions ceremony. You don’t ‘do’ much at all, but a lot happens as your senses become more refined, the blockages to connection lift and you move towards your natural state. Of course nature is a great ally in this process, helping you become part of the team. Part of Way of Nature’s philosophy is that nature is the greatest church, temple or teacher you will ever need.
“The ultimate aim of the quest must be neither release nor ecstasy for oneself, but the wisdom and power to serve others.” – Joseph Campbell
Often people come to quest work when they feel ready to move into the next phase of their lives – sometimes this transition is voluntary, other times not. In order to do so, various intents can be brought into the quest. Often (as with the traditional vision quest), the intent is to receive a vision or other form of guidance of the individual’s purpose in this lifetime and learn how to be in service. Sometimes it is to move through an experience and come back into harmony. Sometimes it is to experience deeper connection with inner and outer nature. Whatever the call, you cannot go wrong in honouring it.
I offer Quests in the Way of Nature lineage. The intents of the Way of Nature are to assist people in opening to their inner nature, to outer nature and ultimately to True Nature and in doing so discover their true purpose in this lifetime.
Through the time we work with Way of Nature’s 12 Guiding Principles:
- The Fundamental Truth: All Forms Are Interconnected, Constantly Change and Continuously Arise From and Return to Primordial Source
- Commit Yourself Completely to Liberation in this Lifetime
- Relax and Surrender to Life
- Remain in Now
- Cultivate Union with Universal Energy
- Go with the Universal Flow
- Rest in the Radiance of Your Open Heart
- Active Compassion Arises Naturally out of Unconditional Love
- Cut Through to Clarity
- Return to Source
- Pure Source Awareness Is… Remain in Recognition
- Serve as a Warrior of the Open Heart and Liberated Spirit
Typically Nature Quests include a 3 to 5 day solo, and Sacred Passages a 6 or 7 day solo. The extra days on the Sacred Passages allow you to sit in the remarkably refined state of being that you will develop over the first few days and explore all the awarenesses that it engenders for a little longer. For both the quests and passages, we spend a number of days on preparation training beforehand and at least 24 hours of integration afterwards.
